Shaun Edwards expecting "tremendous atmosphere" for England visit

Shaun Edwards refuses to be drawn into a slanging match with Stuart Lancaster following the England coach's decision to keep the Millennium Stadium roof open tomorrow.

Wales defence coach Shaun Edwards has played down England coach Stuart Lancaster's decision to keep the Millennium Stadium roof open tomorrow night.

The Red Dragons wanted to close the retractable roof for the Six Nations curtain raiser in order to create a more intense atmosphere, although that decision was vetoed by England's coaching staff.

However, Edwards has insisted that supporters inside the iconic venue will help generate noise regardless, playing their part in what is expected to be a nail-biting contest between two arch rivals.

"It's within the rules of the Six Nations so we just get on with it," he told reporters. "It's not something we've discussed too much and we'll just play our game. It's still going to be a tremendous atmosphere."

England have played six matches in the Welsh capital with the roof open since 2001, winning three and losing three, while they have lost two of their last three matches when the roof has been closed.
