Steve Borthwick desperate to win Aviva Premiership final

Steve Borthwick admits that Saracens would "dearly love" to beat Northampton Saints in the Aviva Premiership final today.

Saracens captain Steve Borthwick has admitted that he and his teammates would "dearly love" to win their clash against Northampton Saints in the Aviva Premiership final today.

The match will be the last of Borthwick's career following the 34-year-old's announcement back in November that he would be retiring at the end of the season.

Despite Borthwick calling time on his career, the veteran insists that he will give his all for Sarries when they take to the pitch at Twickenham Stadium later this afternoon.

"We would dearly love to win the game on Saturday," he told the club's official website. "There has been a tremendous amount of hard work from lots of people in this organisation throughout this season and the years before to get to this point in time and to get to this final.

"I think that we are going to go out on Saturday and play as hard as we possibly can. I think that the one thing that I'm sure of this group is it won't be for the want of trying.

"Whilst I know what I'm doing after this point in time until Saturday night I am rugby player with Saracens, and I owe it to my teammates and my friends to ensure that they have my full attention and my full focus."

Saracens head to Twickenham on the back of last weekend's 23-6 defeat to Toulon in the Heineken Cup final.
