Sale Sharks clinch win over Newcastle Falcons

Sale Sharks are up to sixth in the Aviva Premiership table after beating Newcastle Falcons 16-8.

Sale Sharks have secured a 16-8 win over the Newcastle Falcons in the Aviva Premiership this evening.

A quick move from the back-rows allowed Tom Brady to sprint into the corner for the opening try of the match, giving the visitors an early lead, but an Andy Saull effort got Newcastle back into contention at half time.

Danny Cipriani took charge of the kicking duties in the first half, adding two penalties and a conversion for Sale.

Nick MacLeod added the only points of the second half late on for the Sharks, giving them a comfortable lead heading into the final eight minutes of the match.

The result moves Sale up to sixth in the table, while Newcastle sit 10th.
