The visitors made a quick start to the game as Lewington and Tom Fowlie both crossed the line inside the opening five minutes.
Shane Geraghty added a brace before the break for Irish, while Matt Parr and Andy Fenby also went over as the away side continued to dominate.
The home side were handed a lifeline early in the second half when Fenby was sent to the sin bin for a professional foul, allowing Taione Vea to find a gap a couple of minutes later.
However, they were unable to reduce the lead further, while a further two scores from Lewington ensured that the visitors completed the rout with eight tries in total.
The result leaves Welsh at the bottom of the table, still looking for their first win of the season, while Irish sit 10th.
