Neither side was able to take a hold of the clash in the first half, as Freddie Burns and Gordon Ross each kicked two penalties to ensure that the sides were level at the break.

Gloucester found themselves a man down early in the second half, as Jonny May was shown a yellow card for a deliberate knock-on.

The one-man advantage allowed the Exiles to take control of the game, sending Phil MacKenzie over for a try, putting the visitors eight points ahead.

However, a series of infringements from Welsh allowed Burns to fire over a three penalties, putting the hosts a point in front.

The win puts Gloucester back in the top four in the table.
