David Strettle 'not downbeat over England snub'

David Strettle refuses to take his omission from the England squad to heart.

Saracens wing David Strettle has remained upbeat about his current form despite being left out of England's Six Nations squad.

The 30-year-old former Harlequins player was overlooked for the national team with head coach Stuart Lancaster opting for youth as Anthony Watson, Jack Nowell and Jonny May were called up.

He told the Daily Mail: "Stuart wants to build a team who are capable of winning the World Cup and, if that means blooding new players then so be it.

"If you go down the route of trying to please coaches then you are on a slippery slope. You may have one message from one coach and a different one from another."

Strettle joined Saracens from Quins in 2010.
