Stuart Lancaster heaps praise on "exceptional" George Ford

England coach Stuart Lancaster believes that George Ford is maturing by the game at international level following an "exceptional" performance in the win over Scotland.

England coach Stuart Lancaster has hailed the "accomplished performance" of George Ford in Saturday evening's Calcutta Cup win over Scotland.

The Bath youngster helped settle any nerves that were creeping in by crossing over the whitewash four minutes into the second half to guide the Red Rose to a 25-13 victory which leaves the Six Nations wide open heading into the final weekend.

Lancaster admitted after the game that his side were rather wasteful at Twickenham, although he was full of praise for the nine-time capped Ford.

"He provided a threat with his running game, his passing game and his kicking game," the England coach told reporters. "George's feel around defenders, his ability to pull in defenders and execute passes at the right time, is exceptional.

"It was a pretty accomplished performance from someone who was still in single figures as an international fly-half."

England are level on points with Ireland and Wales in the table ahead of their clash with France next weekend.
