Wigan Warriors coach will not rush Blake Green back to action.

Wigan Warriors coach Shaun Wane has admitted that Blake Green is still two to three weeks away from returning to Super League action.

Green had targeted June 7's clash against Widnes Vikings as his return match from his ankle injury, but Wane has said that is an unrealistic target.

"He is the eternal optimist, Greeny," PA Sport quotes Wane as saying. "He'll be wanting to play, but when he got injured he said he'd be back in two weeks and we're now three weeks on.

"I like that he's keen to get back, but I'm more of a realist. I'm not going to rush him. Once he is 100% ready to play I'll give him another week.

"It is an awkward injury - it is hard to rehab and hard to treat. He should be okay in two or three weeks' time."

Green suffered the injury earlier this month in a Challenge Cup clash against Hull KR.
