PAOK face relegation as punishment for gun-toting owner's pitch invasion?

PAOK could reportedly be relegated from the Greek Superleague as punishment for owner Ivan Savvidis's gun-toting pitch invasion.

Greek Superleague side PAOK could reportedly be relegated from the top flight as punishment for owner Ivan Savvidis's controversial pitch invasion during their match against AEK Athens last weekend.

The 58-year-old entered the field of play carrying a gun after his side had a late goal ruled out in the top-of-the-table clash, forcing the referee to abandon it with one minute plus stoppage time remaining.

Greece's football prosecutor Konstantinos Simitzoglou is charging PAOK based on Article 19, which states that clubs who intimidate or threaten match officials can be hit with instant relegation as a punishment.

According to The Sun, this is a real possibility, but a fine and a points deduction is a potential alternative.

Savvidas, who has since apologised for his actions, faces a fine and a ban from attending football matches for three to five years.

The Greek government has invited officials from FIFA and UEFA to Greece to discuss the current state of the Superleague, which has suspended all matches as a result of the PAOK incident.
