Wolves owner Steve Morgan challenges caretaker manager Terry Connor to make the job at Molineux his on a permanent basis.

Wolverhampton Wanderers owner Steve Morgan has hinted that caretaker manager Terry Connor could be in for a bonus if he keeps his new side in the Premier League.

Connor will oversee the last 13 games of the season, starting with Saturday's trip to Newcastle, having been appointed as the caretaker manager after Mick McCarthy was sacked earlier this month.

Wolves currently find themselves 18th in the Premier League, only below Blackburn Rovers and Queens Park Rangers on goal difference, and Morgan confirmed that Connor has a chance to make the job his on a permanent basis.

"The terms of Terry's appointment are private and confidential, but let's just say he might be able to have a nice bottle of wine, or two or three, if he keeps us up," said Morgan.

"For anyone coming into this position, there would be an incentive to stay up. It is a standard part of our management packages, incentives relating to where we are in the league.

"At the moment it's an interim appointment but he's got a chance to stake a claim. We've got 13 cup finals left. I think we've got to see how Terry does. I think it would be unfair to Terry to do anything other than that."

Wolves still have a number of relegation rivals to play before the end of the season, including Blackburn, Bolton Wanderers and Wigan Athletic.
