Wolfsburg ease past Stuttgart

Ricardo Rodriguez, Diego and Ivan Perisic score for Wolfsburg as they get the better of Stuttgart 3-1 at home in the Bundesliga.

Wolfsburg have registered a 3-1 victory over Stuttgart at the Volkswagen Arena in the Bundesliga.

The hosts dominated proceedings in the first half and broke the deadlock on 38 minutes through Ricardo Rodriguez, who shot home with a left-footed free kick.

Diego doubled Wolfsburg's advantage in the 53rd minute with a free kick of his own, finding the bottom left corner with a right-footed effort.

Stuttgart halved the deficit just four minutes later through Timo Werner, but Ivan Perisic secured the points for the home team with his goal 12 minutes from time.

The win has lifted Wolfsburg to fifth in the league table, while Stuttgart are in 10th place.
