Wigan Athletic are reportedly planning a surprise managerial move for Karl Robinson to succeed Gary Caldwell at the DW Stadium.
The Latics sacked Caldwell on Tuesday after a disappointing start to their Championship campaign, just five months after the rookie boss guided the club back into the second tier.
Robinson was also dismissed on Sunday as MK Dons chiefs were forced into action following a run of four wins from their opening 15 games in League One, leaving them just one point above the relegation zone.
According to The Sun, Wigan supremo David Sharpe is a fan of Robinson's footballing style and is eager to bring the Liverpudlian to the club now that he is unattached.
It is claimed that Athletic plan to put a new director of football in place prior to making a new managerial appointment, which Robinson is comfortable with.
Former Bristol City manager Steve Cotterill is the favourite to land the MK Dons job, meanwhile, as they prepare for life without the man who has been at the helm for the past six years.
