West Ham United have reportedly been given permission by Hamburger SV to begin talks with winger Nicolai Muller over a summer transfer.
The twice-capped Germany international is due to see his current deal expire at the end of the season and has yet to be offered a new one.
Muller is therefore available on a free in four months' time and, according to a report carried by Football.London, West Ham are keen to make a move knowing that he is on his way out of the Volksparkstadion.
Hamburg have been without the 30-year-old wideman for the past seven months due to an injury sustained early in the campaign when rupturing his cruciate ligament during a celebration.
Prior to joining Die Rothosen in 2014, Muller spent time with Greuther Furth and Mainz 05 in his German homeland.
