West Ham United striker Michail Antonio has been ruled out of Wednesday's EFL Cup quarter-final tie with Tottenham Hotspur after testing positive for coronavirus.
The 31-year-old, who is the Hammers' only senior centre-forward, has now been forced to self-isolate and could miss the Boxing Day Premier League clash with Southampton as well as the away trip to Watford on December 28.
Speaking to Sky Sports News ahead of their game with Spurs, head coach David Moyes said: "Michail Antonio tested positive about a week ago now, so we're getting him closer to being back. Obviously he's not available tonight.
"With testing every day there's uncertainty like every other team but I have to say, at the moment we've been pretty good with Covid."
Moyes has opted to start Jarrod Bowen as the central striker against Tottenham, with his Hammers side seeking to join Arsenal in the semi-finals of the EFL Cup.
Antonio, who scored seven goals in his opening 10 fixtures for West Ham across all competitions, has since endured a nine-game drought without a goal.
