Swansea City reportedly rejected the chance to sign in-form Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy for £800,000 in 2012.
The 28-year-old is heavily linked with a move to one of England's elite clubs after scoring in 11 successive Premier League games to break Ruud van Nistelrooy's record.
It has been a remarkable rise for a player who was representing non-League Fleetwood Town as recently as 2012, before joining the Foxes for a reported £1m.
However, ex-Swans boss Michael Laudrup had the opportunity to sign Vardy for £200,000 less, but the Dane opted against the transfer, according to Wales Online.
The England international, whose story could be turned into a Hollywood movie, is expected to line up against Swansea in South Wales this weekend.
