Swansea City manager Garry Monk has claimed that the pressure is on Jonjo Shelvey to improve after returning to the England squad.
Shelvey was handed two starts by Roy Hodgson in the international break as England recorded victories over San Marino and Switzerland.
Monk is confident that the experience will bring the best out in the midfielder, who has played a key role in Swansea's unbeaten start to the season.
"I think the England experience can see a change in mentality for Jonjo," the Swansea boss told reporters. "Hopefully it will elevate his game. He can take confidence from it and can really push on.
"That is the key, he has to push on and fight even more, not rest on his laurels. He needs to go to another level and we know he has the ability to do it."
Swansea travel to Vicarage Road to meet Watford on Saturday afternoon.
