Swansea City boss Garry Monk plays down England talk

Swansea City boss Garry Monk says that he is not thinking about succeeding Roy Hodgson as England boss.

Swansea City manager Garry Monk has suggested that it is too early for him to be thinking about the England job.

The 35-year-old has been tipped to succeed Roy Hodgson after Euro 2016, with the Football Association confirming that no contract talks will take place until after next summer's tournament in France.

Speculation has intensified following Swansea's unbeaten start to the new Premier League season, but Monk has insisted that he is fully committed to his current role with the Welsh outfit.

"It's nice that people even consider me but I still have a long way to go and lots to prove," he told the South Wales Evening Post.

"For players, managers and coaches to do something for your nation is highest honour. But that's not my focus, I'm totally focused on what's going on here."

Swansea sit fourth in the table after taking eight points from their opening four games.
