Gateshead loan Sunderland goalkeeper

Football Conference outfit Gateshead loan Sunderland goalkeeper Joel Dixon for the remainder of the season.

Sunderland goalkeeper Joel Dixon has finalised a loan switch to Football Conference side Gateshead.

The 21-year-old is yet to make a senior appearance for the Wearsiders, while he also failed to get on the pitch during his short stint with Hartlepool United earlier in the campaign.

However, he has turned out for Sunderland's Under-21 side this season and he will now spend the rest of the term at the Gateshead International Stadium.

Dixon, who is expected to make his debut against FC Halifax Town tonight, has been brought in to cover number one keeper Adam Bartlett, who suffered an injury against Dover Athletic at the weekend.
