Martin O'Neill is hopeful that Stephane Sessegnon hasn't picked up a serious injury following his FA Cup fourth-round winning goal against Middlesbrough last night.

Martin O'Neill is hopeful that Stephane Sessegnon will overcome a slight fitness setback following Sunderland's FA Cup victory over Middlesbrough last night.

The former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder became the hero for the Black Cats after clinching the winning goal in extra time at the Riverside Stadium to progress through to the fifth round of the domestic competition.

After netting the winner, the 27-year-old limped off the field, sparking injury fears for the playmaker.

"He is an outstanding player and I am delighted that we have him," said O'Neill. "He's really great.

"He hasn't missed a game - I hadn't realised he hasn't missed a game this season for us, which is outstanding. I hope it is just cramp rather than anything else."

Sessegnon has scored nine goals since moving from Paris last year.
