Modibo Diakite is determined to prove himself at Fiorentina after they took him on loan from Sunderland for the rest of the season.
The Frenchman moved to the Stadium of Light in the summer, but only made seven appearances under two different Black Cats managers.
Fiorentina had no hesitation in bringing the former Lazio defender back to Serie A, and Diakite is keen to both impress and improve during his spell at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
He told reporters: "Fiorentina are a great club, they are a big organisation and they have a big coach. I chose Florence because I've seen the football this team showed last season.
"Now it's up to me to repay the faith Fiorentina showed me. I must improve a lot of my technical skills. Training with this team can improve me a lot. I'll always do what the coaches ask me."
Diakite, 26, made 73 appearances, scoring two goals, during a seven-year spell at Lazio.
