Mark Hughes hints at new Peter Crouch contract

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes says that 36-year-old forward Peter Crouch could earn another new 12-month contract at the club.

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes has claimed that Peter Crouch could earn another new 12-month contract at the club.

Crouch signed a one-year extension with the Potters earlier this year, and it had been thought that the 36-year-old would leave the bet365 Stadium on a free transfer at the end of this season.

The Englishman has scored two Premier League goals off the bench this season, however, including a winner in Stoke's 2-1 victory over Southampton on Saturday afternoon.

Hughes has revealed that offering Crouch another new contract will be in his mind if the forward continues to contribute.

"It wasn't a big decision (to offer him a new contract last season) because we know what he can bring. If he continues in the same vein, we will be having a similar discussion some time this year as well because his physical attributes haven't waned," Hughes told reporters.

"Crouchy is invaluable. He's a great guy, a fantastic personality to have within your club. He's been doing that kind of thing all through his career."

Crouch has managed three goals in seven appearances for Stoke in all competitions this season.
