Stoke City defender Robert Huth has been charged with misconduct by the Football Association over comments made on social media.
The German made comments on Twitter in reply to an account which posts sexual images of people and asks users to guess their gender.
The 30-year-old, who has not started a Premier League game for the Potters since November 2013, has until 6pm on January 21 to respond.
Huth's charge comes as the FA looks to clamp down on what it deems to be inappropriate social media behaviour, with both Rio Ferdinand and Mario Balotelli having recently received bans.
Meanwhile, the centre-back has apparently been told that he can leave the Britannia Stadium this month, with former manager Tony Pulis believed to be keen to bring him to West Bromwich Albion.
