Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly hoping to re-sign former player Marcus Edwards from Sporting Lisbon in January, after he impressed against them in the Champions League.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly hoping to re-sign Sporting Lisbon's Marcus Edwards in January.

Edwards, 23, is a former Spurs player and came through their youth set-up before making his debut for the senior side in 2016 as a 17-year-old.

Having made the move to Vitoria de Guimaraes in 2019 from the London club, his performances earned him a move to Sporting in January this year.

The latest report from the Portuguese media outlet Record has said that Tottenham are preparing a January move for their former player following his strong start to the season.

Edwards scored in their recent Champions League group stage meeting, as the Portuguese side went unbeaten against Antonio Conte's men across both games.

However, it was not enough to secure qualification to the knockout stages and they now face FC Midtjylland in the first knockout stage of the Europa League.

The winger has seven goals and six assists across all competitions this season, including two goals and two assists in the Champions League.
