Tanguy Ndombele has rejoined Lyon from Tottenham Hotspur on loan with an option to buy.

The 25-year-old has struggled for consistent starts under Antonio Conte since the Italian's arrival in the dugout and was widely expected to complete a move elsewhere in January.

Paris Saint-Germain were initially believed to have been at the head of the queue for Ndombele's signature, but a move reportedly broke down over Les Parisiens' failure to offload one of their current midfielders.

As such, Lyon have taken advantage to re-sign the midfielder on an initial loan deal until the end of the 2021-22 season, with Les Gones confirming a loan fee of €1.42m (£1.2m), and the option to buy is rumoured to be set at a whopping €65 (£54.2m).

Ndombele rejoins Lyon after scoring four goals and setting up 16 more in 96 appearances before his move to Spurs in the summer of 2019, but he has largely failed to live up to his £54m price tag in North London.

The former Amiens man failed to make the squad for recent Premier League clashes with Leicester City and Chelsea, with his last top-flight appearance for Spurs coming in the Boxing Day win over Crystal Palace.

Ndombele follows Romain Faivre to the Groupama Stadium after Bruno Guimaraes's departure for Newcastle United, and Spurs are also believed to have agreed the sale of Dele Alli to Everton.
