Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips will reportedly stay at the club and open talks over a new contract despite summer interest from Premier League clubs.

Leeds United have reportedly won the battle to keep Kalvin Phillips at the club despite interest from the Premier League this summer.

The likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa and Burnley have all been linked with a move for the midfielder during the current transfer window following an impressive 2018-19 campaign which saw him help Leeds into the playoffs.

However, Marcelo Bielsa's side put a £30m price tag on his head in order to ward off interest, and the Daily Mail claims that there will be no further bids for Phillips before this afternoon's 5pm deadline.

Instead, the 23-year-old will open talks over a new contract at Elland Road having enjoyed working under Bielsa last season.

Phillips's current deal expires in 2021, and Leeds are keen to tie him down to a new long-term agreement in order to avoid losing him for a cut-price fee next summer.

The academy product came through the ranks at Elland Road and has gone on to make almost 150 senior appearances for the club.
