Harry Winks has joined Serie A side Sampdoria on loan from Tottenham Hotspur for the remainder of the 2022-23 season.
The 26-year-old has been linked with a move away from North London for much of the ongoing transfer window, having fallen down the pecking order at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium under manager Antonio Conte.
A number of Premier League clubs were credited with an interest in the England international, but Spurs have now confirmed that Italian outfit Sampdoria have won the race for his signature.
Winks is understood to have been encouraged by a number of English players, such as Tammy Abraham and Chris Smalling, reviving their careers in Serie A recently and is hopeful that the switch could have a similar impact on his career.
The midfielder did not feature in any of Tottenham's opening four Premier League games this season, while he has not started a top-flight game for the club since February.
Winks did make 30 appearances for the club last season, but only 17 of those came from the start of matches.
In total, the Tottenham academy graduate has made 203 senior appearances for the club since his debut in 2014, scoring five goals.
Winks has also won 10 caps for England, although the most recent of those came in 2020.
Sampdoria, who currently sit 18th in the Serie A table having taken only one point from their opening three games of the season, next face Lazio on Wednesday evening.
