Everton, Tottenham Hotspur share goalless draw

Tottenham Hotspur hold Everton to a goalless draw in this afternoon's Premier League match at Goodison Park.

Tottenham Hotspur have shared a goalless draw with Everton in their Premier League match at Goodison Park.

The visitors started the game brightly and Sandro tested Tim Howard in the opening moments with a low strike from long range that the keeper pushed away at full stretch.

Roberto Soldado then came close to opening the scoring, but his flicked header from Aaron Lennon's cross went just wide of the post.

Tottenham were dominating much of the early possession and Kyle Walker was next to test Howard with a free kick that he had to punch away.

The home side had their first attempt on goal through Leon Osman, who saw his speculative effort from 30 yards travel harmlessly over the bar.

After the break, Everton were unfortunate not be given a penalty when Jan Vertonghen appeared to foul Seamus Coleman inside the box before he got his shot away, but the referee was not convinced.

Romelu Lukaku was then unlucky not to trouble Hugo Lloris as he flicked on a cross from Gerard Deulofeu but the ball went just wide of the post.

Howard was soon called into the action again for Everton and he did well to keep out Gylfi Sigurdsson's powerful effort.

Due to a number of stoppages there were nine minutes of injury time, but neither side could make the breakthrough and the game finished level.
