Tim Sherwood intent on Champions League qualification

Tim Sherwood insists that Tottenham's sole aim this season is to finish in fourth place in the Premier League.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood has insisted that the club's sole aim this season is to finish in fourth place.

Spurs are currently three points off a Champions League spot following five wins from their last seven matches.

Despite claims that the team can challenge for the title, Sherwood is only interested in qualifying for Europe's elite club competition.

"Our target is fourth place and it always has been," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "If we can get higher than that then great but it is the target we are looking for.

"The expectancy will always be there with the fans, and rightly so, we have spent a lot of money at the club."

Tottenham are back in Premier League action on Wednesday when they face Newcastle United at St James' Park.
