Mauricio Pochettino: 'Defeats to Manchester City do not matter'

Mauricio Pochettino insists that the defeats suffered to Manchester City last season will not have an impact on Tottenham Hotspur when the two teams meet on Saturday.

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that he is not concerned about his side's heavy defeats to Manchester City last season ahead of Saturday's meeting with the Premier League champions.

Spurs were beaten 6-0 last November under Andre Villas-Boas, before his replacement Tim Sherwood watched City cruise to a 5-1 victory at White Hart Lane in January, but Pochettino believes that those results will have no impact on his players as they prepare to travel to the Etihad Stadium.

"This is another philosophy, another game," the Argentine told reporters. "We need to arrive on Saturday to get the points. That is the more important thing.

"It is not important thing to think in the past. It is important to look forward. It is always different. It is a new season. I think it is history and after it is another season.

"Different game, maybe different players and there isn't any concern about last season's results."

Reports earlier this week suggested that both Hugo Lloris and Nacer Chadli are doubts for Spurs, but they are expected to be re-evaluated on Friday.
