Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino: 'Goals will come for Harry Kane'

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is adamant that goal-shy Harry Kane will get back to his free-scoring best soon.

Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane will get back to his free-scoring ways despite failing to end his drought in Sunday's 1-0 win at Sunderland.

The 22-year-old drew another blank as Spurs needed an 82nd-minute winner from Ryan Mason to secure their first Premier League win at the fifth time of asking.

Kane netted 31 times last season, with his first in the league coming in November, and Pochettino is fine with the slow start providing his form picks up eventually.

"I am very happy with him, he gave his best for the team, his effort was great and you know he only needs time to score again - I am sure he will arrive at that moment," he told Sky Sports News.

"Yes [he can still have another great season]. Remember he didn't start to score until maybe two months into last season. Last year he scored an own goal here - so this was better.

"He is very confident and very happy after the game in the changing room. He puts the result and the collective situation first before individual problems or targets and this is why we are very pleased with the player."

The Lilywhites sit 12th in the table.
