James Perch insists that Newcastle's players believe that they can beat Tottenham.

Newcastle defender James Perch has said that he and his teammates believe that the club can leave White Hart Lane with a positive result this weekend.

The Magpies, who have been able to maintain their strong league position after an impressive start to the campaign, will be hoping to win their third contest in a row at Spurs after victories at Blackburn and against Aston Villa.

"It's a massive game for us, but a massive game for them as well," Perch told the club's official website.

"People expected us to get relegated, or at least struggle, but we are proving people wrong week after week.

"We've been to some tough places this season and have got results when people thought we wouldn't. This is no different. We know it's going to be a tough game, of course, but we are doing well and there is a lot of belief in the dressing room."

Newcastle could move to within five points of third-place Spurs with a win this afternoon.
