Spain have beaten France 2-1 in their final group game at the Under-20 World Cup.

Spain have beaten France 2-1 in their final Under-20 World Cup group game.

The Spanish scored a goal in each half, before surviving a late onslaught to finish as Group A winners.

France started well and created the game's first chance when Florian Thauvin raided down the left and burst into the box, before having his low shot saved by Daniel Sotres.

Spain then almost took the lead themselves, when Jese's shot was tipped wide following a good exchange between him and Paco Alcacer.

Ten minutes later, they were ahead thanks to a quick break involving the same players. Jese beat his man on the right and crossed for Alcacer, who made no mistake from close range.

Another excellent save from Alphonse Areola denied Spain a second goal moments before half time, when he pushed Jese's effort on to the post after good work from Oliver.

Shortly into the second half Spain scored their second. Kurt Zouma failed to deal with Oliver's long pass and Jese nipped in, taking a touch before firing into the bottom corner.

The French pushed hard for a goal in the final minutes, hitting both the post and the crossbar, before finally beating Sotres through Thibaut Vion.

It didn't matter in the end though, as Spain got their third win in as many games.
