Report: Juan Mata to be dropped from Spain squad

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata will reportedly be dropped from the Spain squad for this summer's World Cup.

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata will reportedly be dropped from the Spain squad for this summer's World Cup.

The 26-year-old started during his country's 2-0 victory over Bolivia this evening, but it is believed that Vicente del Bosque will cut him from his 30-man provisional squad.

According to Onda Cero, the Spain manager feels that he is too similar a player to Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Santi Cazorla.

Mata has made 31 appearances for Spain, helping the country to victory in the 2010 World Cup and in Euro 2012.
