Sergio Ramos says that he will be proud to enter the history of Spanish football if he earns his 100th cap for Spain on Friday.

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has expressed his pride as he is poised to earn his 100th cap for Spain this week.

The 26-year-old could become the eighth player in his country's history to reach a ton of appearances for La Roja, should he play in their World Cup qualifier against Finland on Friday.

The centre-back, who would also become the youngest European to reach the landmark by surpassing Lukas Podolski's record of 100 caps for Germany at the age of 27, is proud of his international career.

"I will enjoy it on a personal level," Ramos told ESPN. "I hope I can enter the history of Spanish football.

"It is a source of pride for me - a really big personal goal. Overcoming barriers on a personal level is very important for a player.

"I have been coming here for many years. I hope I can see in future that I have played many more than 100 games."

Ramos made his Spain debut against China in 2005.
