Phil Brown: 'Avoiding injuries has been key'

Southend United manager Phil Brown admits that being able to select the same players on a regular basis has helped his team's impressive run since the middle of March.

Southend United manager Phil Brown has admitted that he is grateful to have the majority of his squad fit for the League Two playoff final with Wycombe Wanderers.

Despite missing out on automatic promotion, Southend edged past Stevenage in the playoff semi-finals to reach Wembley, and Brown has revealed that he knows the majority of the team that he will select for Saturday's match at Wembley Stadium.

The 55-year-old told BBC Essex: "After 10 months of the season and having every person fit apart from one lad, it's amazing and surprising.

"I think the team is 90% selected as the consistency levels of the players have been great this season, although it is a little unfair on the lads who haven't been able to get in."

Brown has been in charge of the Roots Hall club since March 2013.
