Southampton to consider Leonardo Jardim approach?

Southampton will reportedly consider Leonardo Jardim as a potential replacement for Mark Hughes should the club not improve their form in the Premier League.

Leonardo Jardim has reportedly emerged as a potential managerial target for Southampton.

Jardim has spent the last four seasons with Monaco and led the club to the Ligue 1 title in 2017, but the 44-year-old was recently replaced by Thierry Henry after a poor start to the campaign.

The Venezuelan-born boss will attract interest from a number of different leagues, and according to The Express, Southampton could emerge as a contender to hand Jardim his next role in the dugout.

Mark Hughes penned a three-year contract at St Mary's earlier this year, but the Saints have endured a poor start to the season, with just five points coming from eight fixtures in the Premier League.

The report suggests that Hughes will be given more time to improve the team's fortunes on the pitch, but Jardim will be considered as a replacement if the Saints become involved in a relegation battle.
