Dusan Tadic: 'Southampton must improve'

Southampton attacker Dusan Tadic admits that his side need to improve, having picked up just one point from their opening two games under new manager Claude Puel.

Southampton attacker Dusan Tadic has admitted that his side need to improve following a disappointing start to the new season.

The Saints have picked up just one point from their opening two games under Claude Puel, drawing 1-1 with Watford on the opening day before falling to a 2-0 loss at the hands of Manchester United.

Tadic acknowledged that it will take time to adapt to Puel's new tactics, but talked up the importance of picking up their first win as quickly as possible.

"We are disappointed. I think we need to improve a lot of things. We should play much better. In everything, in defending together, in attacking together. Everyone, we need to be on a better level. In that, I mean first on myself and then everyone, and that's it," he told reporters.

"This specific system, players didn't play so much. And then you need always to learn from that system and this needs time. We are still learning things from that system. The coach tries to explain to us and it's hard, it's difficult, but we still try our best to do good things.

"We just want to see what is good and what is not good [from the United game], and try now to win the game against Sunderland. This is most important. It's important to win some games, then you get extra confidence and, for the rest of the season, you can do better things."

Southampton sit down in 16th in the Premier League table after the opening two games.
