Southampton manager Nigel Adkins expresses his frustration following another heavy defeat for his team.

Southampton manager Nigel Adkins has expressed his frustration following today's heavy defeat at West Ham United.

After a goalless first half, the Hammers struck twice - through Mark Noble and Kevin Nolan - in the opening three minutes of the second period.

Adam Lallana pulled a goal back on 64 minutes, but Jose Fonte was penalised for a foul on Andy Carroll just moments later and Noble cooly converted the resultant penalty kick.

Modibo Maiga completed the scoring three minutes from time, meaning that the Saints have now conceded 24 goals in eight Premier League games.

"The first half was good with us passing it well, moving it around nice and keeping good possession of the ball," said Adkins.

"The result in the end was hard to take and it was frustrating in the dugout. Adam Lallana scored a good goal, we looked threatening but the penalty took the sting out of us."

Southampton are 18th in the table, having claimed just four points thus far.
