Sochaux stun Bordeaux

Sochaux claim a vital 2-0 win against Bordeaux, although they remain 19th in Ligue 1.

Sochaux have claimed what could be a crucial win against high-flying Bordeaux in Ligue 1.

There were very few chances inside the opening 10 minutes, and indeed the closest either side came was through Bordeaux's Gregory Sertic, who had a shot blocked from the edge of the box.

The first real chance for the home side fell to Cedric Bakambu, but his shot was well saved by Cedric Carrasso before the striker fouled the goalkeeper going in for the rebound.

Bordeaux looked to work a training ground move, but from the free kick, Henri Saivet blasted his effort well over the bar.

As the game went on, the hosts came into it more and more, and they took the lead with 20 minutes to play through Jordan Ayew, who finished well after being sent through by Mickael Malsa.

The next goal could have gone either way, but it was Sochaux who claimed a big win through Bakambu's strike as the hosts moved to within five points of escaping the drop zone.
