A penalty from Francesco Lodi was enough for Catania to claim all three points from their trip to Siena this evening.
The first chance of the match fell to the home side after five minutes. Alessandro Gazzi rose highest to meet Franco Brienza's cross but he couldn't get his header on target.
The only goal of the game arrived in the 22nd minute when Gazzi was deemed to have deliberately handled the ball inside the area. Lodi stepped up to convert the resultant spot kick into bottom right corner of the net.
Lodi went close to extending his side's lead after the break, but his 25-yard free kick grazed the crossbar on its way over.
As time ran out Siena's Brienza broke through the visitor's defence, but he was unable to beat Juan Pablo Carrizo in goal.
