Steve May scores twice in win over Wigan Athletic

Steve May's double gives Sheffield Wednesday a 2-1 win over Wigan Athletic.

Sheffield Wednesday striker Steve May scored twice as they beat Wigan Athletic 2-1 to take their first win in 11 league games.

May headed Chris Maguire's cross against both posts on 71 minutes and it took the assistant referee to confirm that the ball had crossed the line.

Wigan took the lead in the first half when Chris McCann headed home James McClean's corner after a relatively quiet opening 25 minutes.

However, Wednesday equalised almost immediately when Atdhe Nuhiu set up May to fire the ball low into the corner from inside the box.

Wigan came close to snatching a point through McClean, but his shot went wide, while earlier in the match he had a header cleared off the line by Lewis McGugan.
