Preview: Sheffield Wednesday vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers

Sports Mole previews Saturday's Championship meeting between Sheffield Wednesday and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The bottom half of the Championship looks different every weekend, and in recent weeks it has been Sheffield Wednesday who have edged further away from the relegation zone.

Stuart Gray's side are unbeaten in four games, and his squad will be full of confidence after winning their last two games against Wigan Athletic and Blackburn Rovers.

That run has taken Wednesday up to 12th in the table, and they are now just four points outside of the playoff spots ahead of the visit of Wolverhampton Wanderers this weekend.

The good news keeps coming for Gray's side, who could have Lewis McGugan available this weekend after the midfielder was stretchered off in a neck brace in the first half against Blackburn last Saturday.

It had initially been feared that the midfielder had suffered a serious injury, but he could be in line for a starting spot after recovering from concussion.

Wolves prepare for this game with their morale at a new low after the 2-1 loss to Bournemouth made it five defeats in a row for Kenny Jackett's team.

A double appeal against the red cards in that game had mixed results, with Rajiv van la Parra seeing his ban overturned and Matt Doherty being forced to accept the suspension.

Just one point separates the two sides heading into the game, with Wolves looking to leapfrog Wednesday on their way back into the top half of the table.
