Craig Levein is furious with officials for disallowing his side a goal in Friday's 2-1 defeat to Wales in Cardiff.

Scotland manager Craig Levein has hit out at officials after his side were controversially disallowed a goal in Friday's 2-1 defeat to Wales in Cardiff.

With the Scots leading 1-0 in the World Cup qualifier, Steven Fletcher had his header chalked off after the linesman judged Charlie Adam's cross to have gone out of play.

However, replays showed that the goal should have stood before Gareth Bale scored twice to give the hosts the win in Cardiff.

"The officials got it wrong and, as the game panned out, that second goal was crucial for us and not getting it was a body blow," Levein told BBC Sport.

"Having a goal chalked off is really difficult to take. An official's mistake cost us in the last qualifying campaign and that has cost us again. This is very difficult to take."

The defeat has left Scotland second from bottom in Group A with two points.
