The Republic of Ireland advance to the finals of Euro 2012 after securing a 5-1 aggregate victory over Estonia at the Aviva Stadium.

The Republic of Ireland have qualified for the finals of Euro 2012 after securing a 1-1 draw at home to Estonia.

Giovanni Trapattoni's side's place in next year's finals in Poland and Ukraine was all but confirmed after the 4-0 win in Tallinn on Saturday.

In Dublin this evening captain Robbie Keane missed an early chance from close range before they took the lead on the half-hour mark.

Wolves striker Kevin Doyle headed at Pavel Londak, only for the keeper to palm the ball into the path of Doyle's club teammate Stephen Ward to score.

The visitors scored a consolation goal in the 58th minute when Konstantin Vassiljev fired at goal from 30 yards. Aston Villa keeper Shay Given should have arguably kept it out but Vassiliev's effort managed to squirm under his body.

The draw for the finals takes place on December 2 at the Ukraine Palace of Arts in Kiev.
