Real Zaragoza's relegation troubles have deepened after a 2-1 defeat at home to Rayo Vallecano.

Helder Postiga had two efforts saved early on for the hosts, before his strike on 33 minutes made the breakthrough.

Alejandro Arribas saw his header fly wide for the visitors as ended the half the stronger, while Emiliano Armenteros flashed his shot wide.

Postiga nearly grabbed a second midway through the second half, but he couldn't guide his header towards goal.

Despite pressure from Zaragoza, the visitors grabbed an equaliser with 15 minutes to play when substitute Diego Costa nodded in Jose Casado's cross.

Vallecano turned the game around in the 82nd minute as Michu swept home from 12 yards.
