Real Sociedad, Sevilla share the spoils

Real Sociedad and Sevilla pick up a point each from their La Liga match after playing out a 1-1 draw.

Real Sociedad and Sevilla have played out a 1-1 draw at Estadio Anoeta in La Liga.

The visitors broke the deadlock as early as the 18th minute much against the run of play through Jairo, who collected a good pass from Ivan Rakitic and chipped the ball over the onrushing Claudio Bravo.

Antoine Griezmann had a good chance to restore parity in the 33rd minute, but he failed to properly control Ruben Pardo's pass and shot straight at Sevilla goalkeeper Beto.

That miss could have been punished by Sevilla just before the break had Piotr Trochowski been able to keep his effort on target after being set up by Kevin Gameiro.

Sociedad eventually drew level midway through the second half through Griezmann, who tucked home at the second attempt after collecting Carlos Vela's pass.

Vela himself came close to winning the game for Sociedad when he was picked out by Griezmann with a cross, but the Mexican failed to keep his header on target.

Sevilla had to play the last five minutes of the match with 10 men after Cala was sent off for a second bookable offence.
