Atletico Madrid have quashed reports linking star striker Radamel Falcao with a move to city rivals Real Madrid.
The Colombian international has been targeted by Chelsea and Manchester City, but rumours of a move to the La Liga Champions have been met with an angry reaction from his current employers.
"It's totally false that Falcao is linked to Madrid," Sky Sports News quotes Atletico president Enrique Cerezo as saying.
"Falcao has a contract with Atletico Madrid and there's nothing more to say. It seems there is an attempt to destabilise Atletico."
The rumours are said to have emerged when Cerezo himself said that a deal between Falcao and Real had been on the cards "for some time".
However, he has since said: "One thing is joking and another is talking about things that aren't true. I don't like the fact that you put words in my mouth that I haven't said.
"There's no need to talk about rumours or non-rumours, and the source of the rumour has to be identified so it can be put to bed."
Falcao, who has scored 20 goals in all competitions so far this campaign, is expected to make a decision about his future after the current season has ended.
