Marcelo hails 'important result'

Real Madrid defender Marcelo hails the importance of Sunday's 2-0 win over Levante ahead of El Clasico next weekend.

Real Madrid defender Marcelo has claimed that his side "gained more confidence" from their 2-0 win over Levante on Sunday.

The victory was Real Madrid's first in three matches and moved them to within one point of La Liga leaders Barcelona ahead of El Clasico next weekend.

Marcelo has conceded that Los Blancos are still struggling to hit top form, but believes that a return to winning ways was vital.

"We are not having the best of times but with this result we've gained more confidence before the trip to Barcelona next week, which is going to be a key game," Marcelo told reporters.

Gareth Bale scored both of Real Madrid's goals on Sunday.
