Dani Carvajal plays down facial injury

Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal plays down fears that a facial injury could keep him out of Spain's upcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers.

Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal has insisted that he is fully fit to represent Spain in their upcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers against Slovakia and Luxembourg.

The defender had emerged as a doubt following a clash of heads with Athletic Bilbao midfielder Benat during his club's 5-0 win in La Liga at the weekend.

However, Carvajal has said that the injury looks worse than it is.

"It doesn't hurt me much. It looks ugly because of the colour and the bruising, but it's nothing really. I think Benat came out of it worse than I did, so I wish him a speedy recovery and that he's back playing soon," Inside Spanish Football quotes Carvajal as telling reporters.

Spain first face Slovakia on Thursday.
