Luis Enrique's view on the El Clasico has changed since his playing days, according to his former teammate Ivan Zamorano.
Zamorano, Enrique's former Real Madrid teammate, reveals that the Blaugrana boss was desperate to beat his current side Barcelona, when playing in El Clasico.
"As a player, Luis Enrique was another of those who prepared for these games in his own unique way," the former Chilean international said, according to Goal.com.
"He is a hugely passionate individual and this was reflected in the way he trained, played during a game even the way he spoke. In the Clasicos, he transformed totally and had a strong desire to beat Barca.
"The first thing I learnt at the club is the importance of winning the games against Barca. I was taught how it's more than a game of football; it touches on social and political aspects, centralism against independence."
Enrique spent five seasons at the Santiago Bernabeu, before leaving for the Camp Nou on a free transfer in 1996.
